Summertime Activities
The summer holidays are fast approaching, and we know they can be a pressure point for many families because of increased costs in food and childcare. There is also the pressure to make sure your children have the best summer holiday you can give them.
Funded by the Department for Education, the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme provides free holiday club spaces for children in receipt of benefits-related free school meals during the Easter, Summer, and Christmas school holidays.
The aim of the programme is to ensure children have access to a safe space in the holidays, where they can participate in exciting activities as well as have access to a nutritious free meal.
The holiday programmes will offer:
- free, nutritious and tasty food every day
- fun daily physical activity sessions
- a wide range of exciting activities to suit different ages, personalities and abilities
- opportunities to learn more about healthy eating and nutrition
- opportunities for children and young people to socialise with their peers and make new friends
